Customer Profile
This client is a Utilities and Service Company that provides urban infrastructure services and specializes in township management services. It provides civic services in the areas of building and industrial construction, road construction and maintenance, design and planning consultancy for delivering physical planning, architectural and structural needs of modern townships and overall town planning.
Problem Statement
Thousands of architecture drawings were maintained manually in a record room, many of which were very old with torn edges. These drawings belonged to projects of different disciplines and many drawings had multiple versions. Managing and handling these physical drawings and their respective records were complicated. These drawings were also getting damaged with time and some of them were in very poor condition.
Proposed Solution
The best-suited imaging solutions to photograph worn out drawings and then convert them to PDFs was applied to maintain the quality of the drawing. The PDFs were then indexed as per their project location. For drawings that could be scanned, Scanstream, the multi-tenancy workflow manager, was employed to integrate the scanned output with i-doc. Most of the metadata of the drawings could be captured from the name of the drawing file, and the rest of the details could be added with the use of a form.
Digitization eliminated the risk of damage to the drawings and reduced the cost of maintenance the client had to bear. The drawings could now be easily viewed from anywhere and be located instantly with the ultra-fast search capabilities of i-doc
